I made the quilt top last year. It has had to sit and wait to get finished.  This year Mom and I have been trying to finish projects and not start a lot of new ones.  This quilt top was definitely on my to do list.  I love all the browns and pretty fabrics. But I must say the finished quilt looks waay better than I was picturing in my head.

 Mom and I have taken several classes and the teachers say let the quilt speak to you and figure out how you are going to quilt it before you put it on the quilter.   I kept thinking I would do a meander all over but then I would think no, do something different and expand and try new thing.  I even drew on the quilt top several swirl designs, or curvy designs I wanted to try but kept going back to the meander.  I finally stopped fighting it and decided on 2 separate borders and then the meander on the inside.   I did try a swirl I have been practicing a lot with my paper and pencil and it turned out really good.

  I used the information we got from the quilt show judges and made sure my corners were 90 degrees and the binding is full to the edge. 

  This quilt turned out so nice that Hubby and I have decided to give it to a family member for Christmas.  We think it will go great in their house and hopefully they will get years of love of out it.

zombies

There is new zombie fabric out!  Its Emily Taylor's Zombie Apocalypse.  I had to buy some!  So I got this fat quarter pack at stitchesngiggles.





Its so freaking cute.  I am working on a Christmas gift right now but as soon as that is done I'm make up a zombie quilt.  Love it.

a gifted quilt

 I have a good friend that loves royal blue and her birthday was fast approaching.  She also doesn't care for a lot of pattern, she likes solids.  So I thought I would try a simple pattern with only a few different patterns and color ways to keep it simple but still have a cool contrast for a  pretty quilt.  I used 5 inch squares and did a meander quilting design on it.

   In my head this was all very low key and on the plain side.  But when it was done I loved it!  This was one of those quilts that I was sad to get rid of. I would have been happy to keep it and snuggle up under it while watching a movie or snoozing. 

  She has told me several times that she loves this quilt.  She lays it on her bed and loves the look of it in her room and its great for naps.   I still love it. Maybe when I do not have a quilt list a mile long I will make another one just for me.

Epic Halloween quilt

 I made this quilt last year.  It was my first king size quilt and I absolutely love it.  I found the pattern in a magazine and ripped it out, I love all the piecing and all the different fabrics that I would get to use in it.  I have realized quick that I am in need of a better camera if I'm gonna do this blogging stuff, but these are the pics I have so it will have to do.  Epic Halloween quilt is currently on my bed and I love looking at it and cuddling under it an night when I get home from work.

 Still love the border fabrics, that blue bat fabric is awesome and who doesn't love stars! I have used that fabric in several quilts. Riley Blake is amazing.

A better shot of some of the blocks. The piecing was fun to do and mixing up all the great Halloween fabrics was so cool.  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

I did a quilt along

I followed along with Jenny at sew kind of wonderful.   I love the patterns and quilts and her quilting is amazing.  So I thought I would do the quilt along for the Medallion quilt.  Mine turned out soo much better than I thought it would.  Her quick curve ruler was pretty intimidating, the video tutorials absolutely helped and the quilt turned out great.  I will definitely make another one.

I tried a lot of new things with this quilt.  It was fun to try new stuff and expand my skill set a bit. I did a bit of ruler work and lots of swirls.

My thoughts were I would give this as a Christmas gift if it turned out good.  My 18 year old daughter kept asking for it every time she saw me working on it, so I gifted it to her.

How Charming quilt

 This is a quilt I finished a few months ago.  The pattern is How charming by Eleanor Burns its a throw size about 63 x 54 I think, and I quilted it in an edge to edge flower pattern using a panto.  It is also my first try at scalloped edges. This quilt is definitely the girliest thing I have made but I really like the way it turned out.  It is very pretty.  I didn't make for anything special,  I just wanted to make it. So I put it up for sale on a couple of face book group pages but didn't get any responses, so I think I try an etsy shop and see if that works.  If not I know several girls who would like a quilt.

Mom and I each entered a quilt in a quilt show.

 Mom talked me into it. So this year we both entered a quilt in the Rim Country Quilt Roundup quilt show.   It was cool to see our quilts hanging in the show. I did not win anything but my quilt was considered for 2 awards.  I love the quilt that I entered.  I had the pattern first and when I saw the Marmalade line of fabric I knew it was I wanted for that quilt.  The quilt is named Marmalade Ranch. Here it is at the show.

During the quilt show weekend we took a class from Sharon Schamber.   We took the fanciful feather class.  My plan is that one day I will be good a freehand feathers, I draw them on scrap paper, in my sketch book and when I’m warming up to quilt.

Thought I would start a blog.

I thought I would start a blog to share and journal my quilting experiences.   I have been quilting for three years this month and have loved every second of it.  I have so many projects I want to make and usually have several in the works.  My Mom taught me. We do a lot of quilting together and take classes and have fun making and creating and hanging out together.  I love the time I get to spend with her.
