Christmas gift quilt.

Like everyone else it was crazy busy here around the holidays.  My Aunt  asked me to make a quilt for her step-daughter for Christmas so I couldnt post pics or talk about what I was working on.  It had to be a surprise.  The quilt is done now.  Its so beautiful.  I am really happy with how it turned out and recipient loves it.

The back of the quilt is the same green border fabric.  I enjoyed quilting this one.  It was fun to try a couple new things and try to use tips and techniques that I have been learning.

So now onto 2014 and new quilt projects.   Ive already started a new quilt for my new nephew Heath.  He is 5 days old and so totally adorable.

more quilts

I made this throw size quilt for my sister 2 years ago I think.  I love this fabric line, the greens and browns are perfect for her too.  The tumbler is a great pattern.   I did a edge to edge panto in a big leaf pattern.  So pretty.

This quilt was made for a friend when she had her baby girl.  Perfect prints for a baby girl.  Its a crib size.
I have a great friend who loves everything paisley so this throw was perfect for her.  I thought the straight quilting lines went great with the blocks.  She said she loves it.

This is the first quilt I made for someone else.  I was so excited to give it to her and I thought the colors fit her good.  Pinwheels sure make a cute quilt.

This is a quilt I made for my oldest daughter a couple years ago.  Its a full size, the fabric line is so cute and its a disappearing 9 patch pattern.  The colors are great and who doesn't love polka dots!

Its quilted with a bright teal thread in an all over meander.   I still really like this quilt and the bright colors.

Leo Stars

Today is my Moms birthday.  I am a very lucky girl to have her for a Mom.  Shes smart, creative, generous and loves her family.   She made this quilt for me last year.  To me its priceless.  I love everything about it, the fabric's and the pattern,  especially the fact that mom made it and quilted it.

We have been trying to name our quilts and make labels for each and do all the stuff us quilt makers are "supposed" to do.  So this quilt is named Leo Stars.

Mom entered this one in the quilt show last month.  The judges had all kinds of great things to say about it.   She is a very talented lady.    I understand why my munchkins love the quilts I have made for them so much.  Giving someone a quilt is absolutely giving hugs and love to someone you care about.

The most wonderful time of the year.

Only 3 jack o lanterns this year since the oldest two are much to busy to hang out with Mom and Dad now.  I think they turned out great.  Life sure is changing around here with the kids growing up.

Now the holidays are upon us.  It is a wonderful time of year.

I made the quilt top last year. It has had to sit and wait to get finished.  This year Mom and I have been trying to finish projects and not start a lot of new ones.  This quilt top was definitely on my to do list.  I love all the browns and pretty fabrics. But I must say the finished quilt looks waay better than I was picturing in my head.

Mom and I have taken several classes and the teachers say let the quilt speak to you and figure out how you are going to quilt it before you put it on the quilter.   I kept thinking I would do a meander all over but then I would think no, do something different and expand and try new thing.  I even drew on the quilt top several swirl designs, or curvy designs I wanted to try but kept going back to the meander.  I finally stopped fighting it and decided on 2 separate borders and then the meander on the inside.   I did try a swirl I have been practicing a lot with my paper and pencil and it turned out really good.
I used the information we got from the quilt show judges and made sure my corners were 90 degrees and the binding is full to the edge.
This quilt turned out so nice that Hubby and I have decided to give it to a family member for Christmas.  We think it will go great in their house and hopefully they will get years of love of out it.

Another  finish.. yay.
